Any volunteers for patching JACLPlus for a8e? Or documenting how to do this?

Don't yet want to go with JUGA

Congratulations by the way on the new a8e website, forum, intentions... Thanks for all your hard work

Thanks, but we're merely riding on the shoulders of giants. Those that came before us paved the way.

As for JACLPlus/JUGA, what additional permissions/levels would you think necessary?

In regard to the giants remark... I praise your modesty.

As for JACLPlus/JUGA, what additional permissions/levels would you think necessary?

Basically the ability to selfdefine access levels and usergroups on the fly, as needed. Each customer has a learning curve anyway. The simpelst example is to have sections/categories only available to own staff whereas customers are "simply" registered users.

Some further notes on JACLPlus. The problem is that JACLPlus overwrites lots of Joomla files, including the (hard-) core files, such as content.php, content.html.php and includes/joomla.php

No matter which order you install it in, JACLPlus install will not function properly or in some cases not at all on a8e.

The problem is that JACLPlus isn't so much an extension, but it hacks many of the (hard)core Joomla files

/administrator/index.php
/administrator/components/com_categories/admin.categories.php
/administrator/components/com_sections/admin.sections.php
/administrator/components/com_trash/admin.trash.php
/administrator/components/com_users/admin.users.php
/administrator/components/com_users/admin.users.html.php
/administrator/includes/auth.php
/administrator/modules/mod_fullmenu.php
/administrator/modules/mod_logged.php
/administrator/modules/mod_quickicon.php
/includes/frontend.php
/includes/gacl.class.php
/includes/gacl_api.class.php
/includes/joomla.php
/includes/pathway.php
/includes/pdf.php
/modules/mod_latestnews.php
/modules/mod_mainmenu.php
/modules/mod_mostread.php
/modules/mod_newsflash.php
/modules/mod_related_items.php
/modules/mod_sections.php
/components/com_contact/contact.php
/components/com_content/content.html.php
/components/com_content/content.php
/components/com_newsfeeds/newsfeeds.php
/components/com_weblinks/weblinks.php
/mambots/search/categories.searchbot.php
/mambots/search/contacts.searchbot.php
/mambots/search/content.searchbot.php
/mambots/search/newsfeeds.searchbot.php
/mambots/search/sections.searchbot.php
/mambots/search/weblinks.searchbot.php

JACLPlus itself is great but unfortunately hacking each and everyone of the above files with every new release is someting that is simply too heavy for me. I lack the knowledge for this. Let alone providing support on it.

I can support JACLPlus on default table-Joomla, but would love to be able to have it on a8e. For now I don't support a8e+JACLPlus for my customers. I simply give them default Joomla.

For every who doesn't need JACLPlus I by default go with a8e because it's so much better
