Need a dropdown menu

Written by Duvien Friday, 24 August 2007

I've had many users emailing me about how to create a dropdown menu. Sadly, i must point out this is not possible using the default a8ejoomla menu module. However, a free 3rd party module that almost every Joomla! template companies uses is the famous Extended menu.

If you live and breathe in Joomlaland you will know how great this module is. Not only does it conform to web standards, it even allows you to assign accesskeys as well.

Such power comes at a price, it isn't the easiest to setup with this module for any newcomer. But the documentation is great and also there are template files to download which will get you started in no time.

I highly recommend this to anyone thinking of creating a dropdown menu that is also accessible. You'll also find some cool little extension by the same developer.

Download menu module: Extended menu

Download templates: A selection of template ready for use with Extended menu
