As things have gotten hectic in my life and 101 things to sort out. I've decided to step down from managing a8e project. It is sad to let this go but as i have started a business recently, it now really needs a lot of TLC.

I want to thank everyone for their support and hope that a8eJoomla has been useful to you as it was to us.

This isn't to say that this project is dead, far from it. Our team member Kevin Murray has step up to take on the project and i am thrill to hand it over to him. He already has some plans for the future of a8eJoomla and I believe it will be even better. I have seen some of his work and know in confident that he'll do a better job than myself to lead the project and development. If you have used or played around with mojoBlog, you know he's the 1webguy for keeping a8eJoomla alive and kicking. For those that do not know mojoBlog, it is a Wordpress integration for a8e/Joomla that allows it to run natively inside it. For all the blog components out there, mojoblog is better and really kick ass, and it's free.

I understand Joomla will be releasing 1.0.14 soon so i will make that the last update for a8eJoomla before i handover the project to Kevin.

What will be the changes?

A few things Kevin had in mind which i totally agree is a name change and domain. He will be calling it a8e-dev and will be hosted at a8e.org

Other plans for the new a8e will be to strip a8eJoomla down to it's bare essentials (kind of like Joomla-lite). However, these are only suggestions at this point but i believe this is the way Kevin wants to take this project to.

Of course, i haven't gone completely but just taking a back seat. If Kevin needs my help, i will try when i can.

Some users have express there concerns about what will happen to there professional websites. Well! fear not as i have mentioned above, the project will live on, lead by Kevin who will now be the Project Leader.

As for those that want to migrate to Joomla 1.5, this can easily be done using template overrides from the BEEZ template :) Yes, that simple. But you'll need to tidy up your CSS in your content area but isn't a lot of work.

So what do i mean about using the BEEZ template?

The BEEZ template comes with the default J1.5 install and was an attempt to utilse and demonstrate the template overrides settings. It does a great job of it to rewrite the core and remove HTMl tables. I played with it on an a8eJoomla template installed in J1.5 and it works very well, though because of some differences in the custom CSS in both, you will be required to adjust a few of CSS to match the BEEZ template. To get this working, go to the BEEZ template and copy the folder HTML, drop this into your own a8e template installed on J1.5 and the overrides should start to render. Another thing you need to do to port your template is to change the code snippet so it can run natively on J1.5. Follow the docs here to port a J!1.0.x template to J!1.5

To this end, thanks again for supporting this project and i wish you all will continue to keep supporting a8e.
